Tyler Genneken, a 14-year-old Indianapolis-area boy, lost his battle with leukemia on November 4, 2009. Since his diagnosis three years ago, Tyler received countless transfusions of blood and blood components. He and his family have committed to spreading the word on the need for blood donations and, more recently, on growing the Be the Match Registry (formerly known as the National Marrow Donor Program).
Chief Medical Officer Dr. Dan Waxman talked with WISH-TV's Deanna Dewberry about Tyler's legacy.
Indiana Blood Center thanks Tyler and the entire Genneken family for their efforts and for allowing us to share his story with our staff. His video is part of our employee training and his photo is on our IDs as a reminder of why we do what we do everyday.
