The Donor Testing Laboratory specializes in the testing profiles performed for donor suitability of blood, tissues, cord blood and hematopoietic stem cells. The Donor Testing and NAT Laboratories test samples on all IBC donors as well as samples for other blood centers and hospitals around the country. The labs are accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB), New York State, Indiana State Department of Health, California State Dept. of Health and are registered and licensed by the Food and Drug Administration. The NAT Laboratory uses state-of-the-art technology to detect viral RNA in donor samples. Each blood donor is tested for:
- ABO and Rh
- Antibodies to RBC antigens
- Syphilis
- Anti-Hepatitis C
- Hepatitis B (surface antigen and core antibody)
- Anti-HIV
- anti-HTLV-I/II
- Cholesterol
- Chagas Disease (anti T. cruzi)
- West Nile Virus by NAT
- Hepatitis C Virus/Human Immunodeficiency Virus by NAT
