IBC is a resource locally and nationally for transfusion medicine education programs. Our customers have access to a variety of courses, varying from live classroom interaction with our skilled laboratory staff to training delivered via distance technology to access to nationally produced audio conferences. AABB Audio Conferences
IBC customers can attend AABB audio conferences free of charge. The AABB programs cover a wide range of topics and are eligible for CME by accessing the AABB website after the conference. Blood Bank Crash Courses
Learn more about the courses offered by the Indiana Blood Center on topics related to serology and transfusion medicine. These programs are open at no cost to all IBC customers.
Technical Advisory Committee Educational Sessions
The IBC Technical Advisory Committee meets bi-monthly. Each meeting concludes with an educaitonal session presented by local and national experts in their field. Sessions for 2008-2009 will be posted soon.
ISBT Distance Training Link
This program has been developed by the IBC Training and Development Department with input from department experts to assist hospital staff implementing ISBT128 for blood products. Nurses, physicians, and laboratorians will benefit from the use of this online program that includes a self-assessment certificate. Learning exercises allow the learner to actually follow the steps involved in handling these units.
Specialist in Blood Banking Education
IBC's distance learning program for Specialist in Blood Banking provides in-depth information regarding transfusion medicine to prepare professionals for examination and highly skilled tasks in the laboratory. The pre-requisite for this program is a bachelor's degree; a certification in medical technology is preferred.
