From Indiana Blood Center on Tuesday, February 2:
Most of the Associates at
Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. (SIA) in Lafayette, Ind., are busy making the Subaru Outback and Subaru Legacy, cars that are selling nearly as fast as they can be produced. But, due to the one-week stoppage of the Camry production line requested by Toyota due to the voluntary recall of certain Toyota models made in North America, nearly 1,000 Associates at SIA are focusing on kaizen activities, facilities improvements and training this week.
Since the Camry line Associates will not be involved in production activity this week, it will be easier for them to be available to give blood at various times during the day. Therefore, SIA scheduled a blood drive on Tuesday, February 2, from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. to allow all SIA Associates the opportunity to give back to the community. SIA held a blood drive in late December, but some Associates were not able to donate blood at that time due to production activities.
SIA called last week asking if there was any way Indiana Blood Center could hold a drive on short notice,” said Gina Kornafel, Indiana Blood Center field representative in northwest Indiana. “We are honored to be their community partner of choice.”
SIA hosts Indiana Blood Center twice each year when production goals are decreased, once in July during planned maintenance and again in December during the holiday season. Tuesday’s blood drive makes three in the last seven months at the Lafayette, Ind. facility.
